Delving deep into the unreleased vault!

SWEDISH COLUMBIA takes great pleasure in presenting “LIVE AT PALMA CLUB” by GECKI. GECKI started in Sweden at an early age traversing portals in the mystic wood which showed him unknown lands and arcane knowledge. Before he knew it, he saw similarities when exploring video game titles in his youth — the mystery of Phantasy Star, labryinths for the imagination to be uncovered.

Fast forward to 2014 where over cups of black coffee, SWEDISH COLUMBIA label-head convinces GECKI to submit his first self-titled release. Suddenly, the release emerged — an amazing group of tracks that sounds alive yet daftly pieced together by a myriad of samples, playing, and tiny slices to tape by katana blade. He followed up with remixes for El Huervo and in 2016 released his second EP “RUNNING DAEMONS”. More coffee and maybe an apertif ensuded in the oncoming months to visit the world of PHANTASY STAR again but with the ears and musical prowess of now.

And there I was, teleported to PALMA itself. My former surroudings of a Swedish café replaced with the walls of an alien dome interior—somehow cozy and familiar. On stage the otherworld musicians played themes of their land. A story unfolds: THE GOVERNOR — the mission is set with hopefulness, the beat hits and the rhodes player goes deep hitting the heart strings at the right moments. Yeah, this was real. BAYA MALAY exploded next with the Cal Tjader vibes echoing with every perfect hit of the mallets. Mjao’s technique unparalleled. On the flipside the 3rd composition, MOTAVIA, sent a tear into space. That tear turned into a star and rained down again onto the fields of Palma itself. And then it ends with a ressurection, back to the SANCTUARY, sadness yet a revival — to go on and continue the adventure. WABOOM! It ended! I was back in the surroundings of the café. A spoon clinked on the inside of a worn espresso cup. I looked up at GECKI and there he was smirking. What just happened? Whatever it was — it’s ready to happen to YOU now.

We wanted to press this as a 7" and kind of still do, as we love the El Huervo art and these songs! Time will tell!
